Learn How the GATE DAC Works for You!
The GATE DAC has been advocating for G/2e students for more than 50 years. In California, GATE was stripped from the Ed Code in 2013 and has struggled ever since. Learn how you can become informed about GATE and advocate for our Gifted and Twice-exceptional (2e) learners.
The GATE DAC is a parent-led committee of volunteers. The Chair is Mary Ann Hawke. Contact her at gatedacsdusd@gmail.com
We are one of a number of District Advisory Committees in San Diego Unified School District.
The GATE DAC was established in 1972 and has an unbroken record of representing Gifted students and their families in the District.
The goals and objectives of the GATE DAC are to advise district leadership on gifted program development, planning and implementation as required by state law, act as regional liaison to school sites for development of gifted programs, act as resource persons for district-wide parent meetings, channel community questions concerning district-wide programs for follow-up and action, set DAC priorities for program review, discussion and explanation during monthly meetings, and review district program objectives, activities, budget timelines and annual evaluation.
