Volunteers help our Gaskill community thrive! By volunteering, you can:
Support teachers and staff with educational and enrichment goals
Help students create fun memories at school
Build a welcoming community for Gaskill staff and families - and yourself!
We know time is precious, so there are many opportunities to volunteer from one-time options to recurring commitments. Whether you are interested in leading an event or have a few hours here and there to help out - your contribution makes a big difference!
The PTO holds events throughout the school year. You can support our efforts by signing up for:
An event committee to help lead our events: Event committee members help plan and lead our main fundraising events including the Fall Fest, Trailblazer Trot and the Trail Mixer. Planning occurs in the months preceding each event and typically involves 6-8 meetings. Committee members have a big impact on our ability to fundraise and create fun events for our school community!
Ongoing opportunities to support throughout the school year. Some of these can be done from home as well. These include:
Grade-level room parents: Plan parties for your child’s grade level and coordinate appreciation efforts for your grade’s teachers.
Yearbook support: Take photos throughout the school year, and/or help design and publish the yearbook
Staff Appreciation: Help stock the teachers’ lounge and coordinate efforts to show the Gaskill staff how much we love them.
PTO Executive Committee: Help lead the Gaskill Elementary PTO! Positions include: Co-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurers, Communication, Staff Appreciation, Volunteer Coordinators, Grade-Level Parent Coordinators, and Technology Chair.
One-off opportunities at any of our events: We always look for extra hands to set up events, facilitate all the fun, and clean up afterward! These time slots can range from 1-3 hour commitments, and represent all kinds of tasks including helping out for Picture Day, leading the Trailblazer Trot runners on a bike, and running games at the Fall Fest. Choose the day, time, and activity to fit your schedule and interests!
There are a few steps to follow to get set up. If you have any questions about these steps, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators at gaskillvolunteers@gmail.com!
Register with Littleton Public Schools: All volunteers must be registered with Littleton Public Schools. The registration includes a background check which may take a few days to process, so please complete this step as soon as you know you’d like to volunteer. To register with Littleton Public Schools, sign in or create an account here.
Sign-up for the Gaskill volunteer email list: The PTO regularly sends out emails asking for volunteers throughout the school year. These emails include opportunities to serve on event committees and help out at Gaskill events. You can be added to this list by completing the volunteer interest form.
Some volunteer opportunities (e.g., classroom parties and specific teacher needs) will be communicated by the grade level room parents. You can also reach out to your grade’s room parents to show interest in supporting grade-specific efforts and events!
Sign in at the Gaskill main office before you begin your volunteering time: When you volunteer at school, please stop by the main office and sign in there. Signing in ensures safety for our students and helps staff track volunteer hours for grants and other important funding opportunities.
If you do volunteer work from home, you can sign into LPS Connect and log your hours online.
