Monthly Ceili Classes - Open to the Public

Details: This class is open to all, regardless of previous experience. Complete beginners and new students welcome! Best suited for dancers ten years of age through adult, these sessions will focus on the traditional social dances of Ireland (ceili dances). These group dances range from simple repeated sequences to complex figures and they are great exercise and great fun! Please bring clean, comfortable shoes and a water bottle - street shoes are not allowed in the studio. Modifications for various fitness and experience levels will be provided - rustle up some friends and come on down! Drop in rate of $15/class.

Location: Contemporary Dance and Fitness Studios, 18 Langdon St., Montpelier - third floor studio

Winter Session: January 13 - May 11 Session Tuition: $215 (60 min) or $160 (45 min)

Details: The winter/spring session will run on Mondays from January 13 - May 11. There will be no class on February 24 or April 13. May 18 will be held as a potential make-up class in the event of a snow day. All Monday classes will be held in The Movement Room at 115 Main St. (Further details on getting to our space to follow upon registration).

Tuition: The session fee is $215 for 60 minute classes and $160 for 45 minute classes. Tuition may be paid in full on the first class or in installments: $50 upon the first class of each month Jan-April and the remainder on the first class of May. We offer a family discount of 10% off tuition for every additional dancer from the same family. 6:30-7:30 - Adult Irish Dance (all levels welcome)

Beginning Irish Dance 1 & 2:

This class will focus on the fundamentals of Irish dance and music including technique, rhythm, footwork and musicality. Dancers will learn material from the solo step dancing tradition as well as the traditional ceili (social) dances that include more complex group figures and movements. Classes will also incorporate creative movement, contemporary choreography, and games - open to new and returning students! Beginner 1 will run from 4:30-5:15 and Beginner 2 will run from 4:30-5:30.

Advanced Beginner:

Open by invitation to students with a mastery of elementary steps and technique who have demonstrated a readiness for more complex material and more intensive instruction. This class will focus on building repertoire, strength and musicality, and stage presence whether for recreation, performance, or competition.

Adult Irish Dance:

This class will explore many aspects of the Irish dancing tradition from ceili (social) dancing to sean nós (old style) to contemporary step dancing. Guided by dancer interest, expect this class to cover a wide ranging repertoire with a focus on fundamentals including rhythm and musicality, technique specific to each style, and healthy movement and fitness.


Please note that we are not accepting transfers from local Irish dance schools at this time.
