I grew up north of Seneca, Ks with my mom Rosette, dad Troy, and my sister Marissa. My mom’s side of the family is from Belleville and my dad’s side from Havensville. Being a ways away from family, I don’t see them very often, but when I do we always have a good time. My sister is currently going to college at Cloud County Community College, so I have had the house to myself the past couple years.
During high school, I didn’t participate much in sports. I did track and basketball my freshman year, but after that I decided not to go back out. My sophomore year I decided to work instead of sports. But, my junior year, I decided to go out for golf and will be my senior year also.
I was also a KAY member my freshman and sophomore year, I wasn’t very involved so I decided not to be in the club again. Instead, I decided to join SADD my junior and senior year, where I was involved with Smalls and Talls child mentor program. I also decided to be in FFA when we started the chapter my junior year. I was the Vice President. Our advisor wasn’t the best, and we didn’t get too much accomplished the first year. I then decided to do FFA my senior year since I heard we got a new advisor, and I am the chapter sentinel.
Outside of school, I have been involved in 4-H since I was 7. Attending camps, state events, the fair, meetings, and being a Nemaha County 4-H ambassador the past two years, I have kept busy especially during the summer. I have also been involved with my church most of my life, helping at church picnics, dinners and breakfasts the church does, and being in CYO. I also decided to be on the Northeast Kansas Rural Youth Council, where we help with youth rallies across the Kansas City Diocese and lots of other things.
When I’m not busy at school, with school clubs, or any other groups I am in, I am working at Hammes Trucking. I have been working there since I graduated eighth grade. Helping in the shop, I have learned a lot about semis and how to work on them. I have learned a good work ethic and to do stuff right the first time so I don’t have to do it again.
After I graduate, I plan to go attend Cloud County Community College and study in the field of Agriculture. I plan on being there for two years, then transferring to K-State. I want to attend Cloud for a couple years to save money, and to be around some family and be able to hang out with them.
When I grow up, I am not certain what I want to be. Getting a degree in agriculture, I know there are a lot of job choices. I know I will be able to find a job, unlike some degrees out there. I might end up with an office job, being in the field or working on things. It might take several jobs to find out what I want to do, but as long as I am making money, and find something that I like to do I know I will be just fine.
I had the chance to visit anywhere in the world I would choose Africa. Because, there's many people that need help there, but also why I’m helping out there would be many different species of animals to hunt on very different terrain than here in Kansas.
When I have free time I usually am doing something in the outdoors. Sometimes I am out cruising around exploring new places on old backroads. Shooting guns with friends and cruising around on ATV’s. Fishing is always fun as I’m hoping to catch a monster, or just out hunting for a big deer, walking through pastures and scaring up pheasant and quail, or calling in turkeys. Kayaking and boating even. There’s all kinds of stuff to do in the outdoors, and it’s one of those things it’s hard to get tired of because it’s just relaxing.
