Born and raised in Florida, I completed my B.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.
After, I attended Purdue University going on to earn an M.S.E. and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Ag. and Bio. Engineering, respectively, but mostly to perpetually answer the question why I would leave Florida to come to Indiana. I was co-advised by Dr. Melba Crawford and Dr. Indrajeet Chaubey.
Following graduation, I moved to France where I spent some time butchering the language and eventually accepting a part-time research position at the Institut Méditerranéen de Biodiversité et d’Ecologie. I headed back back stateside for a postdoc position at WSU Vancouver that I started in January 2021 and am currently an ORISE fellow with USFS PNW Research Station.
During my free time, I enjoy feeling guilty about not working, tripping on stairs, and growing a terrible “beard.”
When I can, I am outdoors trying not to get sunburnt hiking, exploring my love/hate relationship with running, or being mediocre at sports.
Fun fact: I won the creatively named "Science Award" during my senior year of high school. It was a pendant, about 0.5 inches in size, metaphorically representing the amount that anyone other than me cared.
Sad fact: I was born on the day of the Challenger Disaster, which may have been a portent for things to come.
