Grade Components:

• 55% - Exams

  • There are three exams in this course, but the lowest exam score is dropped so that only your two highest exam scores count toward your overall course grade.

• 15% - Attendance

  • Your attendance/participation score is based on your iClicker participation during class. I understand that throughout the semester you may experience unavoidable conflicts and need to miss class. So that the occasional absence doesn't impact your course grade, your iClicker score will be curved 15%.

• 15% - Homework

  • Throughout the class you will complete 14 homework assignments based on chapters or "modules" of material, which will be taken as quizzes on D2L. Homework assignments are multiple choice and graded for accuracy, but you will have an unlimited amount of attempts to take the quiz before the due date. I will assign homework quizzes throughout the semester as we complete topics in class, giving you at least two weeks from the date a quiz is assigned to the date it is due. Your three lowest homework scores will be dropped.

• 15% - Interdisciplinary Writing Assignment

  • During the second half of the semester, you will complete a 3-5 page essay detailing interdisciplinary perspectives on one topic from the first half of the course. You can find more details about this assignment here .
