Gardin is a master's student at Materials Innovation, University of Tsukuba, with a research focus on defect engineering of epitaxial thin film thermoelectric under collaboration with the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. His previous experience focuses on thin film materials for bioelectronics, utilizing chemical sensors through electrochemistry or FET-based systems to leverage materials science for societal benefit. He is pursuing his studies under the Monbukagakusho scholarship from the Japanese government, and his work has been internationally recognized, including his inauguration as a Highly Commended Entrant (Top 10% Worldwide) in The Global Undergraduate Awards and Runner-Up of the Siemens Tech for Sustainability Campaign. Since his undergraduate studies, he has attended conferences and published peer-reviewed articles, which led him to gain Ganesha Awards from ITB and selected to become an awardee of the Taiwan Experience Education Program.
