Ballet Information

Garden State Singers is looking to put up its first ballet at Art House Productions in Jersey City.  This is a one-act production which will run slightly under an hour, and will feature two dancers and a ten-piece live orchestra. Please see below for more information on the production, and submit an audition video if you are interested!

• Dates

  • Rehearsals TBD and will take place in the Jersey City Heights

  • Tech Rehearsal: Monday, May 25 at 4:00PM at Art House Productions

  • Dress Rehearsal: Tuesday, May 26 at 6:00PM at Art House Productions

  • Performance 1: Friday, May 29 at 8:00PM (7:00PM call) at Art House Productions

  • Performance 2: Saturday, May 30 at 8:00PM (7:00PM call) at Art House Productions

• Character Breakdown

  • Dancer 1

    • An international student studying in Kyoto. She cares more about subjectivity, which leads her to be introspective and a little doubtful of things. 

  • Dancer 2

    • A university student and Tokyo native studying in Kyoto. She cares more about objectivity, which leads her to be rational and opportunistic of things. 

• Audition Requirements

  • Auditions can be submitted either as a soloist or a duo.  If submitting as a duo, we ask that you submit videos dancing together.

  • Video 1

    • A 30 sec recording of a performance or cover of a choreography developed in the past 20 years. (Examples include choreography by Justin Peck; Alexei Ratmansky; etc.)

  • Video 2

    • A 15-30 sec recording of a cover of a viral dance trend (examples include pop music dance challenges; anime dance trends; flash mobs; etc.) 

• Pay

  • Each dancer will be given a stipend of $600
