Applying For A Membership
Becoming a member at the Garden Grove Library is free to residents of Jamaica. You, must however, provide identification that gives your name, your picture and your current address. This identification is required for persons over the age of 18 and could be presented in the form of a National ID Card, Driver’s License, Passport, Employee ID card or School ID. To verify your residency, a Utility Bill, Bank Statement, Letter of Residency (signed and stamped letter from a local authority or landlord), Tax Document or Lease Agreement must also be presented.
An application form is also to be filled out. This can be done at the Garden Grove Library building or online on our website application form.
Persons under the age of 18 do not require identification. A guardian is required however to present their ID, the birth certificate of the child and their signature on the library application card.
After registration and identification, a library card will be issued to the person allowing them to fully access our library and its resources.
Borrowing Resources
Loan Period:
Books, Magazines, Audio books- 1 Month
DVDs, videocassettes, music cassettes and CDs- 1 Week
Lost or Damaged Items:
Hardback book (Adult/YA) - $500
Hardback book (Juvenile) - $300
Paper Back Book - $250
Audiobook, CD, DVD - $500
Tips of How to care for Borrowed Books
Handling:
Avoid using the book when hands are dirty
Turn pages gently to avoid tearing
Avoid writing or highlighting in books
Use bookmarks instead of folding pages
Storage:
Keep books from the elements such as rain or snow
Store books in a dry place
Keep books away from pets
