About GPS
Growing with Purpose
Gardening Projects & Services (GPS) was founded by Larry Lai, a horticulturist, educator, and creative gardener who moved from Hong Kong to Manchester in 2022.
GPS is more than a gardening service — it is a platform for creative and inclusive horticulture. We connect education, environment, and community engagement, combining hands-on gardening with imagination, storytelling, and upcycling.
As a family-run practice based in Greater Manchester, we bring professionalism, creativity, and warmth to every project.
Our mission is to cultivate green spaces that nurture well-being, learning, and social connection, planting the seeds of a more caring world.
To grow people as well as plants.
We envision communities where gardening becomes a bridge ~ linking generations, cultures, and abilities.
Every project is a chance to cultivate empathy, creativity, and care for our planet.
Garden: Outdoor, nature based learning envrionments
Project: Hands on project based learning, and community participation
Service: Service learning through horticultural and upcycling activities
GPS will invite Educators, Artists, Recycler, Therapists, and Horticulturists to collaborate through through garden based and up-cycling projects.
Together, we explore how plants, people, and creativity can shape a more sustainable and inclusive future.
We design and maintain gardens that reflect natural beauty, purpose, and personality — from school courtyards to community allotments.
Our maintenance services are sustainable and reliable, caring for both plants and the people who enjoy them.
This "CREATE" framework guides our teaching and workshop design, encouraging participants to think, play, and grow through creative gardening experiences.
CREATE stands for Child-Directed, Risk-Friendly, Exploratory, Active, Time for Imagination and Exchange of IdeasWe deliver engaging workshops and projects for individuals, schools, SEND college, and community groups. Each session blends horticultural skills with creativity, environmental awareness, and teamwork ~ empowering learners through hands on experience.
At GPS, we take pride in delivering highest quality gardening work with care, precision and integrity. We value trust and long term relationship built on reliability and genuine passion for nature.

Looking Ahead
From a small seed, we grow a social enterprise.
Through collaboration with schools, colleges, and local organisations, we aim to create employment, training, and volunteering opportunities for people of all abilities.
We believe gardening can heal, connect, and empower. Every seed we plant is a step towards a greener, kinder, and more inclusive tomorrow.
GPS integrates professional horticultural expertise with the heart of an educator . . cultivating growth, inclusion, and wellbeing.
