Garden Doctor ("the app") helps home gardeners diagnose plant problems and care for their gardens. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We designed the app to collect as little personal information as possible.
We do NOT require an account, name, email, or phone number to use the app.
Anonymous identifier. On first launch the app creates a random identifier so your garden data can sync for you. It contains no personal information and cannot identify you.
First name (optional). If you choose to enter a name, it is used only to greet you inside the app.
Approximate location (optional). With your permission, the app reads your approximate (city-level) location — never precise GPS — to give weather-aware plant advice and regional insights. You can instead type a city name, or use the app without any location.
Plant photos. Photos you take for diagnosis are sent securely to Google's Gemini AI service to analyze the plant, and are stored only on your device. We do not store your photos on our servers.
Garden and diagnosis data. The plants you track, diagnosis results, care schedules, and your feedback on diagnoses and products are stored on your device and synced to our secure database (hosted in Mumbai, India) under your anonymous identifier.
Usage statistics. Days the app was opened and number of diagnoses, to understand engagement.
Reminders (optional, off by default). If you turn reminders on, the app asks your phone for permission to show notifications. Reminders are worked out and scheduled entirely on your device we do not use a push service, and no reminder or notification data is sent to us or to anyone else. Your reminder preferences are stored only on your phone. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app, or in your phone's settings.
To provide diagnosis, care reminders, and local weather-aware advice
To improve diagnosis quality using your feedback
To show partner nurseries anonymized, aggregated area trends (for example: "many gardeners in this city faced mealybugs this month"). Partner nurseries can never see any individual user's data.
To show which products are available at nearby partner nurseries
We do not sell personal data
We do not show third-party advertising
We do not access your contacts, files, messages, or precise location
We do not store your photos on our servers
Google Gemini AI analyzes plant photos to produce a diagnosis (subject to Google's privacy policy)
Supabase hosts our database (Mumbai region)
Open-Meteo / BigDataCloud provide weather and city lookup (receive approximate coordinates only)
Nursery owners who register a partner account provide a shop name, city, area, and contact details. This is business storefront information and is shown to app users so they can find local products.
Uninstalling the app deletes all data stored on your device. To request deletion of synced data, email thevvlabs@gmail.com from within the app's context (mention your city and approximate install date; because data is anonymous we may ask you for the identifier shown in the app to locate your records).
Garden Doctor is a general-audience gardening app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We will update this page when the policy changes. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
