GARAN EU Guarantee Label (“GARAN”) is a Shopify app published by JANI INFOTECH. It helps merchants meet their obligations under EU Implementing Regulation 2025/1960 by showing the harmonised notice on the legal guarantee of conformity and the GARAN label on qualifying products.
GARAN stores no personal data about your customers. Everything it writes describes a product — its producer, model identifier, and guarantee duration. The notice and the label are identical for every visitor, so nothing the app shows or stores is keyed to a person.
When a merchant installs GARAN, it stores:
The store’s myshopify.com domain, to know which store a request belongs to.
Shopify access tokens issued to the app at installation, so it can read and write on the store’s behalf. These are held server-side and never sent to a browser.
Guarantee settings and per-product guarantee data, held as metafields in the store’s own garan namespace on Shopify — not in our database.
Customer names, email addresses, or contact details
Orders, carts, or checkout contents
Payment or card details
Browsing, analytics, or tracking data about your visitors
GARAN requests two permissions, and no more. Write products lets it read your catalogue and store guarantee data against each product. Read themes lets it tell you whether the notice is actually switched on in your live theme — without it, a store could be showing nothing at all and never know. The app never writes to a theme.
In a PostgreSQL database hosted by Railway in EU West (Amsterdam, Netherlands). Data is not transferred outside the European Union in the ordinary running of the app.

Nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or passed to any other third party.
Access tokens and session records are deleted when the app is uninstalled. They are deleted again if Shopify sends a shop redaction request, which arrives 48 hours after uninstallation — so a missed uninstall notification cannot leave a token behind.
Guarantee metafields belong to the store and stay on Shopify after uninstallation. A merchant can delete them at any time.
GARAN answers all three of Shopify’s mandatory data endpoints. If a customer asks what data the app holds on them, or asks to be erased, the answer is that it holds none, because no data it stores is associated with a customer.
Merchants in the EU and UK may ask what data we hold, ask for it to be corrected or erased, or object to how it is handled. Uninstalling the app erases the store data described above on its own. For anything else, write to us and we will respond within 30 days.
For store data reached through the Shopify API, the merchant is the data controller and JANI INFOTECH acts as a processor on their instructions.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be notified to installed merchants through the app.
