Edge of America -Odds & Ends
I first started listening to music and news on a transistor radio. When I was 14, I delivered papers for the Toledo Blade. On Sundays my mum Kathleen, would help me by driving the bulky newspapers with me on my route, as we listened to Casey Kasem's American Top 40 Show on the car radio. It was a gateway to the musical greats referenced in this song.
Cry in your beer, honky-tonk blues. Mixed by my Devilbiss High School friend, Greg Leonard. Dedicated to old buddies in the Toledo Public Schools All-City Candy Johnson Jazz band.
Recorded in Toledo, Ohio with Georgia Peach (Bobby May, Dave Stella, Mark Bilger & Chuck Caswell) at Larry Gold's Oliver House Studio in 1992. Was Awarded the Akademia Best Americana-Rock Song. Also attracted some interest in Nashville.
