Dr Gaoping Zheng is a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Finance at RMIT University. She received her PhD degree in Accounting from Tsinghua University and joined the Finance department at RMIT in 2020, following academic roles at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Victoria University of Wellington and Monash University.

Her research focuses on corporate finance, corporate governance and behavioural finance. Her work has appeared in leading journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Banking & Finance, Financial Management and Journal of Management Accounting Research. She has attracted more than AUD 275,000 in competitive research funding, including a 2025 ASIC grant examining retail investors. Her research has attracted attention beyond academia and has been disseminated in over 14 media outlets and 61 social media items, notable outlets including Capital.com, Financial Standard, and Australian Investors Association.

Gaoping is a passionate educator and recipient of the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing Education Award and the College of Business and Law Learning & Teaching Impact Award.
