Wenyang was born in Linyi, China in 1989. He received his B.S. degree from Sun Yat-sen University (China) in 2011, conducting research under the tutelage of Professors Tong-Bu Lu and Long Jiang. He earned his Ph.D. from University of South Florida in 2016 under the guidance of Professor Shengqian Ma. In 2017 he began his postdoctoral studies in the group of Professor David Powers at Texas A&M University. Before joining Ohio University, Wenyang was an assistant professor at New Mexico Tech between 2020 and 2023. His research program focuses on leveraging nanospace confined in porous materials for energy-related critical issues.
