Describe the content of the proposed activity.
Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy provides the development of more positive thoughts and behaviors instead of the problematic behavior. In play therapy, play is a communication tool between the child and the therapist. During the studies on the child's problems, verbal and non-verbal communication ways are also used (such as modeling). One of the basic elements of therapy is rewarding. Rewarding gives the child a direct message about which behaviors are appropriate and which are not. The activity, which will take place on 25-29/09/2023 in Batman city of Turkey, will take 5 days + 2 days. Explain how is this activity going to help to reach the project objectives.
Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy focuses on the combination of the child's thoughts, imagination, emotions and environmental factors. It is structured, guiding and goal-oriented. It provides the development of more positive thoughts and behaviors instead of the behavior that is the problem of the child. Cognitive behavioral play therapy is a problem-oriented approach. It aims to develop the child's ability to deal with these problems by focusing on specific problems that are challenging. This activity will enable teachers to be competent in the field of cognitive behavioral play therapy, so that teachers will be able to help their students with special needs overcome their problems such as fear and anxiety. In this case, we will help the child to overcome these problems with cognitive behavioral play therapy methods. Social and emotional skills are necessary features for the child to adapt to social life in his life, to understand his emotions, to control them and to express himself based on these features. The teachers who apply the therapy methods to their students will help them to solve the communication problems that prevent them from adapting to social life, and thus they will be able to improve their students' social emotional skills. Our students, whose social and emotional skills improve, will be more easily accepted in the socie
Describe the expected results of the activity.
As a result of this activity, teachers will have sufficient equipment in cognitive behavioral play therapy techniques and practices. This activity will enable teachers to gain theoretical knowledge and skills about Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy, cognitive play therapy methods as a therapeutic tool and to structure their own sessions through case studies. Teachers, who learn how to benefit from play therapy techniques in the process of improving children with behavioral problems, will be able to develop more positive thoughts and behaviors instead of the behavior that is the problem experienced by the child. In addition, with this activity, teachers' awareness of the common European culture will increase. They will adopt the European identity, and their language skills will improve with the established communications. Thanks to cognitive behavioral play therapy applications, our students with special needs will develop their social emotional skills. Children will learn new knowledge and skills more easily through play. In addition, children with psychological and behavioral disorders can be treated through play and solve their problem without experiencing pressure and anxiety. Children will be able to learn to cope with stress and trauma by re-enacting their life experiences through play. Thanks to animation or house games, children will take on different characters so that children can only use the characters they portray in the game. They will not only learn to play, but also learn to look at things from their point of view. Thus, children's empathy skills will develop. Children will be able to achieve competencies that they cannot really do, cannot achieve, but always desire, through play. In this way, children's dignity and sense of competence will increase. Their social skills will develop and they will be able to participate in society.
