games and philosophy

Welcome to Sophistia, a land where truth and belief are inextricably intertwined. You play news agents in this world, trying as best as you can to distinguish between fact and fiction. Your words have significant power in this world: Sophistians are looking to you for guidance on what to believe and do, and what you publish may have seismic consequences for Sophistia and its denizens.

Sophistia is a land of two cities. Heart City is the older of the two. It consists of heritage sites like The Trials, where every Sophistian goes to discover their instrumenta philosophica; Historia Obscura, where historical records are preserved and reenactment games are held; and the Town Hall, where Sophia holds court with everyday Sophistians.

Diamond City is the more recent addition, built from crystals mined from the magical core of Sophistia. Here, you will find the National University of Sophistia; Merlin's Watch, a secretive facility that overlooks the Merlin Wall; and the ever-looming Usk Towers, whose red eyes scan the Crimson Lawns for any signs of trespassers.
