The Core 2000 and Core 6000 decks are a popular set of vocabulary-building example sentences originally produced by iKnow! which include high-quality audio recordings for each sentence read by native speakers. My particular version of this series is included in my production card collection, and features two types of cards: Production cards and Kikitori (聞き取り) cards, which are dictation cards. The Production cards are what you might expect if you've seen or studied other cards in my collection:
The back of the Production cards also includes pitch accent info for key words from each sentence. Sometimes the pitch accent for particles is included if I felt it to be a helpful illustration, but in general, I didn't want to clutter up the cards with too much information, so I mostly stuck to key words.
If you've studied Japanese pitch accent, you might already know that the location of the pitch drop can vary between a word's dictionary form and its conjugated forms. To help myself (and now you) notice the difference, sometimes I give the conjugated pitch accent, and sometimes I leave the word in its dictionary form in the pitch accent section for contrasting the two when replaying the audio.
Words can often have multiple acceptable pitch accent variations, and I only transcribed the pitch variation used in the audio, but when the voice actor's pitch accent conflicts with all possibilities listed in multiple dictionaries, I've added a Japanese asterisk (*) next to it.
The Kikitori cards are unique to these decks, and offer the possibility of dictation practice if you so desire. The front of the card plays the audio of the sentence, and has a text box for you to type in hiragana for what's being said, checking your accuracy on the back:
These dictation cards could be thought of as an added bonus to the Production cards, and if you aren't interested in using them, feel free to disable them. Since both types of cards are generated from the same set of fields (called a "note"), it's better to suspend the Kikitori cards rather than delete them, since deleting them runs the risk of deleting the Production cards that are also generated from the same fields.
In order to suspend them, first click on their parent deck, "GameGogakuen's JP Production Cards":
Next, click on Browse:
In the search box at the top of the Browse window that opens, type "deck:current card:Kikitori" to search for all dictation cards:
With all the Kikitori cards from the collection now shown in the results, choose Edit > Select All from the menu to select all cards:
With all Kikitori cards now selected, suspend them by choosing Cards > Toggle Suspend from the menu:
Congratulations, you've now suspended all the Kikitori cards, and can focus on working through the Production cards!
