This guide is for those, who are trying to play LAN multiplayer GTA 2 on modern PCs and for those who are experiencing slow gameplay/low FPS. The game performance is usually getting worse with every joined player. (If you are playing alone it's OK, two players - fine, three players - it's kinda slow, four - ...).
This guide is based on the idea of playing with higher framrate. Basically GTA 2 performance is locked on 30 FPS - that's the framerate you should play with. It is because the game's speed rely on game's framerate - the higher the framerate, the higher the game speed.
When you play multiplayer with your friends on LAN, game has to by synchronized between all of the computers and all the computers must have the same framerate. Because of the way how GTA 2 synchronization works (don't ask me why - idk), with every player that joins the session, game losts approximetly 1 FPS (depends on computer, connection, ...) - (I guess it gets lost for sync purposes). As I said with every frame that we lose, the game gets slower. That means that with 3 players you'll get approx. 26-27 fps, wich means the game will run noticibly slower than it should.
My solution is to set framerate on host computer to value I need for multiplayer. Let's say I'll be playing with three players - I will need extra 3 FPS that will be taken away for sync purposes and I will be left with default 30 FPS and the game will run fine.
