Optimally Sampled Galaxy-wide IMFs (OSGIMF) for different SFRs

Here it compares the analytically integrated galaxy-wide IMF (black curve) with the optimally sampled one (black histogram). The difference is that the former is a continuous mathematical function while the latter is a discrete distribution of stellar masses. The red, green, and blue histograms are the number of optimally sampled most, second, and third massive stars (while the black line contains all the stars).
