He collaborated with traffic engineers and was awarded multiple research accolades, including the Hojjat Adeli Award for Innovation in Computing (2015), the SOKENDAI Research Award (Japan), and several publications in international venues.

Gajan holds a B.Sc in Computer Science (First Class) from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka. Then he worked as a software engineer from 2005 to 2007 at IFS Sri Lanka. In 2007, he received the Thailand King Scholarship and earned his M.Sc in Information Management at the Asian Institute of Technology. His graduate studies included an international internship program at the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo and a project researcher role from 2010 to 2010.
