Talk to Ms. Hewitt, our technical theater teacher, Ethan Stern, our Tech VP, or to Ms. Pegg about joining our tech crew! It's a great way to learn about the elements of theater from behind the curtain, and learn life skills that can help you turn your creativity into a career!
Once you are a tech, you can drop off a black T-shirt to have the words "TECH CREW" screen-printed on the back!
Feel free to talk to us if you have any comments, questions, or concerns!
How Are Our Show's Shirts Made?
*All shirts are screen-printed by tech students
A special photosensitive emulsion is spread over the screen with the printed-out design on top.
Then, with UV light and cold water, the parts coated in the solution blocked by the light will start to flake off, creating a screen-printing stencil.
Then, the design is transferred onto a shirt using this stencil made by the mesh screen and special ink.
The design is formed when an object such as a blade spreads the ink evenly across the mesh screen stencil onto the shirt.
The stencil blocks some areas of the screen while ink passes through the parts that are not blocked.
