The Gender and Development Services of the Office of the City Mayor conducted its First GFPS Meeting on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at City Hall Conference Room, this City. The meeting saw the participation of various key officials of the City Government of Zamboanga, including the Department Heads, Division Chiefs, representatives from the different local and national offices and agencies, Barangay Cluster Heads, and the presidents and/or representatives of the different non-government organizations (NGOs) in Zamboanga City.
The agenda of the First GFPS Meeting was to inform and discuss the GFPS members’ duties and functions as outlined in Executive Order No. JD 2024-002. Additionally, updates were provided on the endorsement status of each Barangay’s Gender and Development (GAD) Plan and Budget. Moreover, the meeting also discussed the preparations for the upcoming city-wide Women’s Month Celebration, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and empowering women in various sectors and organizations of the city. The meeting was also graced by the presence of Ms. Anang Lia Sahi of the Department of Local and Interior Government, who gave an orientation on the Revised Guidelines on the Localization of Magna Carta of Women (JMC 2024-01), which serves as an important legislative framework aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women in the Philippines. Moreover, Ms. Judie Ann Ebol from the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) presented to the body the collaborative project of the City Government of Zamboanga and Queer Workforce Advancement and Resource Training Alliance (QWARTA) on establishing a supportive environment for LGBTIQ+ micro and small enterprises, alongside providing career training tailored for LGBTIQ+ individuals facing particularly challenging circumstances.
The First Quarter GFPS Meeting not only provided insights into the achievements and upcoming plans of the Zamboanga City Government but also laid the foundation for having a stronger eagerness to promote inclusive development within the city. The meeting adjourned with a strong sense of collaboration and coordination among its members with the aim of achieving more this year, addressing gender-based issues, and further advancing gender equality and women empowerment in Zamboanga City.

The members of the GAD Focal Point System Council convened for the 4th Quarter Regular GFPS Meeting Year End GAD PAPs and GFPS Functionality Assessment held December 12, 2024, at Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.
The meeting focused its discussion in the following agenda:
1. Presentation of CY 2025 Activities
2. Presentation of Accomplishment Report of GAD Services. List of Accomplishments by the office for the CY 2024
3. Timeline and Preparation for GAD Tools Assessment Validation 2025 (i.e. GeRL Assessment Tool, GAD Functionality Assessment Tool and Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework)
4. Updates on the Revised Gender-Responsive Student Manual of Colegio de la Ciudad de Zamboanga
5. GAD Report Presentations by Office of the City Health, Office of the City Agriculturist, Office of the City Veterinarian and Office of the City Engineer.

The members of the GAD Focal Point System Council convened for the 3rd Quarter Regular GFPS Meeting held September 6, 2024, at Zamboanga City Hall Conference Room. A total of 53 participants are in attendance, including the members of Gender and Development Services.
The meeting focused its discussion in the following agenda:
1. Presentation of Accomplishment Report of GAD Services. List of Accomplishments by the office during the months June, July and, August.
2. GAD Report Presentation of the following officers:
A. Office of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (OCDRRM) by Ms. Cheermielourdes
Bejerano, represented by Mr. Lawrence Gonzales
B. Colegio de la Ciudad de Zamboanga by Mr. Roy Trayvilla
C. Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) by Ms. Maribel Baes
D. Housing and Land Management Division of the City Mayor's Office by Ms. Claire G. Pesebre
3. Presentation of the GAD Corner Website for comments and suggestions from the body. The Website will be launched during the annual conduct of GAD Summit this November.
4. Preparation for Pink October 2024 Activities in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.
5. Roll out to the 5 Pilot Barangays of Zamboanga City on the Formulation of the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program and Rights-based Local Ordinances presented by Ms. Christine Faith C. Baltazar, RSW

The Gender and Development Focal Point System convened for the quarterly meeting on June 13, 2024 at City Hall Conference Room. The GAD Secretariat together with the GAD Vice Chairperson Councilor Al-Jihann Edding facilitated the meeting with the following agenda:

b. GAD Reports of Tourism, OSP - Library Services, CSWDO, PIO; GAD Activities of CHRMO
c. Line-up activities for 2nd, 3rd and 4th Quarter
d. Policies on GAD passed
e. GAD Plan and Budget 2025 Submission Updates (City Level)
f. Barangay GAD Plan and Budget 2024 Updates

Gender and Development Hosts 2024 First Quarter GFPS Meeting
The Gender and Development Services of the Office of the City Mayor conducted its First GFPS Meeting on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at City Hall Conference Room, this City. The meeting saw the participation of various key officials of the City Government of Zamboanga, including the Department Heads, Division Chiefs, Representatives from the different local and national offices and agencies, Barangay Cluster Heads, and the Presidents and/or representatives of the different Non-government Organizations (NGO) in Zamboanga City.
The agenda of the First GFPS Meeting was to inform and discuss the GFPS members’ duties and functions as outlined in Executive Order No. JD 2024-002. Additionally, updates were provided on the endorsement status of each Barangay’s Gender and Development (GAD) Plan and Budget. Moreover, the meeting also discussed on the preparations of the upcoming City-wide Women’s Month Celebration, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and empowering women in various sectors and organizations of the city. The meeting also emphasized the pilot-activity of the SAFER Women Project in selected barangays in the city, highlighting the actions and activities aimed at enhancing safety and welfare of women. Resource speaker Ms. Christine Faith Baltazar, RSW of the Regional Trial Court also gladly announced in this part of the meeting that Zamboanga City is nationally recognized as a “Justice Zone”, a project of swift and fair administration of the Criminal Justice System established to strengthen the coordination and communication among City agencies and Barangays.
The First Quarter GFPS Meeting not only provided insights into the achievements and upcoming plans of the Zamboanga City Government, but also laid the foundation on having a stronger eagerness to promote inclusive development within the city. The meeting adjourned with a strong sense of collaboration and coordination among its members with the aim of achieving even more this year, thus addressing gender-based issues and further advancing gender equality and women empowerment in Zamboanga City.
