Day #1 (August 1st) --> I, along with Ian Young and Matthew Lippert as well as the help of Mr. Anderson, Mr. Dydyk, and Mr. Mitcham, gathered the various tools the SMMTC had available for my project and the kiosk parts needed for the next two days of my project. Although it was but a preparatory day, it felt good to get things in motion after all of this time of planning and arranging. I'm excited to see how the rest of this week unfolds, and can't wait to witness the end result!
Day #2 (August 2nd) --> Despite having a few less hands than was originally planned, our work crew for the day finished the job of setting up the posts of the kiosk at Will Roger's State Historic Park. It was a day full of laughter, and we all had a good time at today's shift!
Day #3 (August 3rd) --> Today, our work crew finished the assembly of the Will Roger's State Historic Park kiosk. We also went on to install the Backbone Trail sign at Dead Horse Parking Lot. Having finished two sites of my project in one day was a big step forward, and it felt fantastic to begin seeing the results of my many months of planning and preparation!
Day #4 (August 4th)--> With a lot of work ahead of us, our work crew managed to complete 4 holes and set 4 kiosk posts in concrete, preparing the next last two sites of my project to be finished the next day. Thanks to a large, helpful group of volunteers, we were able to complete a rather hefty workload in one day!
Day #5 (August 5th)--> Today, we swiftly finished the rest of our two kiosks we built in Topanga State Park. It was one of our fastest and most efficient days, and we all had fun as we went. It was a great turn-out and I'm so very thankful for everyone who helped me reach this point. Besides a few small maintenance stops in the future, the bulk of my eagle project is now complete!
Day #6 (August 13th)--> With most of the project behind me, I went out to Will Roger's State Historic Park to install some borate rods to lengthen the life span of my kiosk there. Check out the following video to see what was improved!
Day #7 (August 18th)--> Now that all else was completed, I headed over back to Topanga State Park to repair a slight issue with one of the kiosk parts I recieved. It involved fixing a cracked roof, as the wood had been split by a screw. Watch the video below to find out more!
