I am senior economist at the DG Financial Stability of the Bank of Spain (on leave). I am currently advisor for the Secretary of State of Economics in the Ministry of Economics of Spain. I previously worked on business cycle research at Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the European Central Bank.
I also worked as an advisor in the Economic Bureau of the Spanish Prime Minister, I was Deputy Director of the Macroeconomic Analysis Department Independent Fiscal Authority and I have been consultant for the European Commission, the European Central Bank, United Nations and the World Bank. I was a member of the Scientific Committee of the Euro Area Business Cycle Network. I am a Research Affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), associate Editor of Macroeconomic Dynamics and I was co-editor of SERIES, Journal of the Spanish Economic Association.
I have published extensively on applications of non-linear models to the analysis of economic and financial variables over the business cycle. I have worked in these publications with great coauthors who are amazing professionals and better friends. I teach PhD courses at the Universidad de Alicante where I have supervised several dissertations on these topics. My students got jobs all over the World and I am very very proud of all of them.
