Gabriel Loumeau

Gabriel Loumeau is a Full Professor at the Institute of Economic Research, University of Neuchâtel, where he holds the Chair of International Economics. His research studies the causes and consequences of urban and regional development. His recent published work has examined urban policies to accommodate the global rise in urbanization, the economic effects of regional transport network integration, and the optimal location of public facilities.
Dr. Loumeau obtained his Dr. Sc. from ETH Zurich in 2019. His doctoral thesis was honored as an outstanding dissertation and received the ETH Medal in November 2020. Before joining the Intitute of Economic Research in 2026, he was an Assistant Professor at VU Amsterdam.
