Gabriell Prophete is a 19-year-old saxophonist, composer, and jazz performance and black studies major at The Ohio State University. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Gabriell’s musical journey began in High school, inspired by video sound tracks from Cuphead, Sonic and Metroid a deep love for the expressive power of jazz and improvisation grew.
From the first time he picked up the saxophone, Gabriell knew he had found his voice. His playing reflects a deep respect for the traditions of jazz, while embracing a modern, forward-thinking approach. Drawing influence from legendary saxophonists and contemporary artists alike, Gabriell strives to create music that is both rooted and innovative.
While studying at OSU, Gabriell has worked closely with esteemed faculty and visiting artists, refining his technique, improvisational skills, and compositional voice. He has performed at a variety of venues across Columbus, quickly establishing himself as an emerging talent within the city's vibrant jazz community.
Beyond the stage, Gabriell is passionate about education and mentorship, believing strongly in the power of music to build community and inspire creativity. His future goals include recording original works, collaborating with artists across genres, and continuing to grow as both a performer and educator.
With a strong foundation, bold artistry, and a relentless drive to push his craft forward, Gabriell Prophete is an exciting new voice in the next generation of jazz musicians.
