Gabriel Cornilescu,
Sr. Scientist, NMR
Advanced Technology Research Facility, Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc., National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health
Specialty: Biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy / Structural Biology.
Research Interests: Applying the latest NMR techniques to explore the proteins encoded by mutant forms of RAS genes to ultimately create effective, new therapies for RAS-related cancers. Structure-function relationship of macromolecules (proteins/RNA/DNA) with the goal of understanding their interaction and response to various ligands. Also smaller molecules: peptides, natural products, etc.
Where: The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, NCI/NIH, RAS initiative.
Before: Ph.D. graduate research in Ad Bax's group, while enrolled in the Chemical-Physics Program at Univ. of Maryland College Park, then postdoctoral research in Marius Clore's group at NIH, then NMRFAM (Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison) in Prof. John Markley's group.
