Thanks Yuki for the photos! (Ai Takeuchi and Yukihiko Funaki)
After completing my PhD in November, I'm thrilled to share that I’ve started a new position as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Engineer at CNRS and GATE in Lyon.
I'll be working alongside Marie-Claire Villeval and Iane Vallanzasca on two major projects:
🔬 Developing a new French experimental platform to support large-scale experiments and enhance reproducibility in experimental economics.
🧠 Continuing research in behavioral and experimental economics, with a focus on social dilemmas and distributional preferences.
After 3 years, I finally defended my PhD thesis "Distributional preferences and approval mechanisms in social dilemmas". It was a great journey with Marc Willinger, my supervisor.
I am also glad to have had the chance to have Marie-Claire Villeval, François Cochard, Katrin Erdlenbruch and Yukihiko Funaki as jury.
Our booth at the FDS 2024 and the radio interview of Radio Campus Montpellier.
This year, I co-organized three events with my lab, The "Fête de la science 2024", "Nuit Européenne des chercheuses 2024" and "Festival Vas-savoir?!". These three events were celebrations of science aimed at engaging the public with fun and scientific activities.
We proposed two activities in Montpellier: an Experiment on the management of intergenerational common pool resources and the transmission of conservation preferences between parents and children (forthcoming papers) and several Posters about Experimental Economics, Marine Submersion and Moral Dilemmas.
Invited to give a talk in the CREST-Waseda Workshop 2024 in Experimental Economics, Applied Mathematics and Finance.
Talk: Four ways to share a pie: Identifying distributional preferences with machine learning.
Conference of the IAREP and SABE associations in Behavioral Economics and Economic Psychology in Dundee, UK.
Talk: Four ways to share a pie: Identifying distributional preferences with machine learning.
During this conference I have been awarded the IAREP/SABE/Elsevier Best Student Paper 2024 for this work.
On July 9th, 2024, I organized a workshop on "Artificial Intelligence in Academic Research" at the Center for Environmental Economics of Montpellier (CEE-M). The event featured a range of talks exploring AI as both a tool and a research topic.
Dimitri Dubois (CEE-M) introduced the use of AI in various academic tasks, followed by Ayato Kitadai (Engineering Tokyo University), who discussed generative agents in economic experiments. In the afternoon, Madalina Croitorou (LIRMM) presented on practical AI and its evolving concepts and, Ganesh Gowrishankar (LIRMM) delved into AI's role in understanding human behavior. The day concluded with a collaborative session on using AI in research, providing attendees an opportunity to experiment and share ideas.
French Association of Experimental Economics Conference in Grenoble, France.
Talk: Efficiency of the Minimum Approval Mechanism with heterogeneous players: a Public Goods experiment.
Before the ASFEE, we had the chance to participate in a replication study organized by Abel Brodeur, Anna Dreber from the Institute for Replication (https://i4replication.org/), and Paulo Crosetto and Margaux Sinceux from the GAEL. It was an opportunity to conduct a computational and experimental replication of an influential paper in the AER with Dimitri Dubois and Simon Varaine (CEE-M).
The Ōkuma Auditorium (大隈講堂) of the Waseda University
In early 2024, invited by the Professor Yukihiko Funaki and as a Research Fellow I visited the University of Waseda in Tokyo, Japan.
During my stay, I initiated two collaborations: an experiment in Cooperative Game Theory with Yukihiko Funaki and an experiment on Dynamic Common Pool Resources and Bargaining with Vinh Pham and Yoshio Kamijo.
And participated in two workshops: the Waseda Game Theory and Experimental Economics Workshop (Waseda University, Tokyo) and the JSPS core to core CEFM Kyoto Workshop (Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto)
Talk at Waseda University: Efficiency of the Minimum Approval Mechanism with heterogeneous players.
Talk at Ristumeikan University: Relativism, Competitiveness or Self-interest? Experimental evidence of four types of individuals
Together with Felipe Trillos, we hosted a workshop focused on Power Analysis in experimental design. The event opened with an presentation on the fundamentals of Power Analysis, highlighting its role in avoiding common issues and addressing challenges in study replicability. This was followed by a more detailed session on implementing Power Analysis in coding, with a special emphasis on handling treatment interactions.
We are in the process of drafting a general guide (Soon available), accompanied by R code, to provide a foundational methodology for conducting Power Analysis. We would also like to extend our thanks to Pr. Anna Dreber (SSE), Arnaud Tognetti (CEE-M) and Sébastien Duchêne (MBS) for their invaluable and stimulating feedback.
During this year I co-organized the CEE-M PhD Lunch Talk with Adrien Coiffard. A seminar for PhD students built as an opportunity to meet PhD students from other universities and hear about various topics. We invited: Bertille Picard (AMSE), Jingru Wang (Waseda University), Aurélien Lafrogne (CEE-M), Lise Peragin (LEDa), Gabriel Bayle (CEE-M), Maël Jammes (CEE-M), Violette Pincon (CEE-M), Tom Bry-Chevalier (BETA).
