Hello TYCA Listserv Members,
We are collecting data for an IRB-approved research study focused on teachers in their first years of teaching at a two-year college. As part of our study, we are conducting one-hour interviews with new two-year college writing instructors about their experiences with transitioning to teaching writing at a two-year college. We are looking for participants who a) completed graduate coursework for an MA, MFA, or Phd within the past three years and b) are in their first three years of teaching writing at a two-year college. Please forward this message to any of your colleagues who might be interested in participating.
If you are interested in participating in the project, please read the consent form and complete a short questionnaire: https://ndstate.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bPkNqveWYGkmSvH by November 1, 2019. We will contact participants by November 15th to schedule an interview in the coming months.
This is the second phase of our study. The first phase was funded by a CWPA grant and focuses on documenting the experiences of a cohort of writing instructors who are in their first year at a two-year college. Although there is no compensation for the second phase and the interviews, we are hoping to talk with instructors who have diverse experiences and who are at various stages of their first three years of teaching at two-year colleges. We are hoping to get a better and more systematic sense of how new instructors experience the transition from graduate school teaching to the distinct environment of two-year college writing programs. Ultimately, we hope this project will help us gather data that can inform recommendations about graduate preparation to teaching two-year colleges and professional support for new instructors.
Thanks for considering our request!
