The different bands of the Fort White Band Program

Beginning Band: Students (usually 6th grade, but open to older students, as well) will spend their first year in this band learning the fundamentals of playing a band instrument, getting along with a group, and performing for an audience.

Intermediate Band: Students will spend the two years following Beginning Band solidifying and furthering the concepts they learned during their first year. Intermediate Band prepares students for the more advanced and intense challenges presented by Jazz or Warrior Bands.

Jazz Band: After students have auditioned and been invited to join the Fort White Jazz Band, they will learn fundamentals about various jazz, latin, and commercial styles of music. They will be introduced to the concept of improvisation. The Jazz Band has many performances per year, and does participate in a Jazz Music Performance Assessment (Jazz MPA) in the Spring Semester.

Warrior/Symphonic Band: After students have auditioned and been invited to join the Warrior/Symphonic Band, they will learn advanced music concepts, perform at various football games, competitions, MPAs, and concerts. All information relevant to the Warrior/Symphonic Band is found in the Handbook.
