Three years ago we lost Bryan Roberts just a few weeks before opening night of the 2019 Tuesday Night Series.
Bryan loved cycling and was especially passionate about cyclocross. While Fort Worth Cyclocross is comprised of a group of individuals who want to expand the sport, Bryan was the driving force behind the evolution of the Tuesday Night Series. From our first planning meeting in 2014 until the very end, he was always thinking of ways to bring more people to cyclocross, how to make it more exciting for spectators, and approaches to build a stronger cycling community in general. He was as determined as they come, and that’s what it takes to build something. Bryan was also extremely supportive—quick to ask “what do you need?,” share a laugh and offer a smile. Even after two years, we still expect Bryan to step out of the trailer on Tuesday and start setting up for the event he loved so much.
Bryan dreamed big. He envisioned one day having a dedicated cyclocross park here in Fort Worth. Certainly a dream worth pursuing. Maybe one day we can make it a reality.
The best way to celebrate the memory of Bryan Roberts is to come out on a Tuesday night, race your bike, hang out with your friends, cheer for other riders, and have a great time. And if you knew Bryan, you know there’s no doubt he’d also ask you to volunteer!
Our deepest thanks to Hannah, Baron, and Aaron for sharing Bryan with us.
