IBD Diagnosis:
Fuzzy was (tentatively) diagnosed with IBD in November 2021 after a period of sustained weight loss and issues with appetite and anorexia that began during summer of 2021 and worsened throughout the fall.
Unfortunately, we cannot confirm via biopsy because she is a poor candidate for anesthesia. Records supporting a tentative diagnosis of IBD can be seen to the right.
Feline Diabetes:
Fuzzy was diagnosed with steroid-induced diabetes on January 6, 2022, developed after starting prednisolone to treat her IBD (start date: December 9, 2021).
She currently is on ProZinc cat insulin and we test her blood glucose at home throughout the day using an Alpha TRAK 2 meter (calibrated for feline blood). We also test her urine for ketones daily using ketone strips.
Other Concerns/Issues:
Additional concerns include potential liver issues (based on November 2021 ultrasound findings (right) and recent elevations in liver values (see Recent Labs for lab results).
Fuzzy has also always had chronic upper respiratory issues from Feline herpes virus and recurring ear infections.
