What will happen with the submitted essays?
We will publish the top 10-20 essays online.
What are the guidelines and expectations?
Write an essay of up to five double spaced pages. You may decide that a list of citations or references is appropriate; if you do include one, it will not count against the five page limit.
We look forward to original and interesting essays that draw upon personal experience, scholarly work, and/or Jewish texts.
When will I hear back?
We expect to announce winners in July.
How will the essays be reviewed and judged?
All essays will be reviewed by student leaders at Oxford and elsewhere. Selected essays will then be reviewed by a smaller group of Jewish scholars and leaders. The best essays will be published online -- so write something persuasive and engaging that others will want to read!
Who is eligible to submit an essay?
Anyone! We are excited to hear from students and adults.
Are there any prizes?
The top essay writer will receive $150, and the second place essay will receive $50. The top 10-20 essays will be published online.
Will my information be kept private?
We will not share your name or personal information with anyone without your permission. Reviewers will be given essays without authors' names. If your essay is selected for publication, we will contact you before moving forward.
