Educational Technology is being consistently developed and becoming more prevalent in academic spaces. Educators cannot avoid the implementation of devices and digital programs. How can they ensure effective incorporation into their classroom and find balance for optimal student learning?
School systems should implement trainings and other resources to help educators understand the benefits of digital technologies and how to use them effectively. In order for these learning tools to benefit student learning, they must be incorporated into lessons and curriculum in efficient and supportive ways.
A balanced curriculum must be created where traditional classroom lesson plans can be joined with technological resources. This will help keep students engaged, while also ensuring they learn crucial skills needed for higher education and to be functioning members of society.
Further, assistance outside of the classroom needs to be made readily accessible for students who are at a socioeconomic disadvantage, those who may not have access to home internet or those who lack support systems to foster their learning at home.
This can be made available through forms of afterschool library hours, free tutoring for students supplied by the school, or possibly allowing older age groups to gain community service hours for free tutoring.
