Dr. Di Wang is a Senior Researcher in EBTIC. Her current main research is focused on text mining for both formal articles and short messages, for both English and Arabic. The aim of the research is to propose and develop intelligent algorithms for accurate and instant articles/short messages filtering, classification and analysis. Based on the proposed algorithms a couple of prototypes have been, are being and will be deployed to the partners and projects. Applications include social media customer contact based on tweets, instant traffic alert/warning based on tweets, dynamic student profiling and active recommender. She also has proposed and developed a general Grouping Tool (GT) in EBTIC for student care, which has been deployed to Khalifa University faculty.
Dr. Di Wang serves as the Editor Board for the Journal of Evolving Systems (Springer publishing, starting from 2013), and the Journal of Experimental & Theoretical Artificial Intelligence (impact factor 0.466, starting from 2014). She has published more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences. She also serves as Committee Member, Special Session Chair, and Competition Panel Member for several IEEE conferences, e.g. IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence, and serves as Reviewer for a number of international journals including IEEE transactions.
Dr. Di Wang obtained her PhD degree in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Before joining EBTIC, she did her research in Manchester University and the University of Stirling in UK. She proposed a couple of novel architectures and learning methods for machine learning and data mining which were successfully deployed in the commercial domains, e.g. petrol pricing, retail time serious forecasting, etc.
