Our summer academy is a one-week program created to inspire migratory students (from families with migratory seasonal jobs) by giving them direct exposure to the fascinating world of semiconductors and memristors. Throughout the week, participants learn from university researchers and explore the same labs where advanced electronic devices are designed and fabricated. They gain a behind-the-scenes look at how science happens, from the atomic-scale engineering of materials to the big-picture applications of next-generation computing.
By meeting scientists and graduate students, campers also get the chance to envision themselves as part of a future academic and professional community in the semiconductor field. The program aims to encourage students to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees by showing them both the opportunities and the excitement that come with working at the frontiers of technology.
At the same time, the camp focuses on building skills that go beyond science and engineering. Students take part in hands-on activities, group challenges, and problem-solving exercises that strengthen teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity. These activities are designed not only to introduce technical concepts but also to make learning active and enjoyable.
By combining mentorship, real-world science, and engaging experiences, the camp helps students see that pursuing a career in semiconductors can be both rewarding and fun. Ultimately, our goal is to open doors for the next generation of scientists and engineers, empowering them to imagine, and work toward, their own futures in technology and research.
