The buddy/mentor system is a network of volunteers that willing to devote their time to sit down and allow you to vent and give you the advice that you would like or need. Everyone needs to vent about their problems and frustrations in life and staff realize that not everyone has a person to do that with. Although it's okay to vent in the groups, it's not the healthiest option. It's even worse when you bottle it all up. So that's why these people have come together to volunteer their time to help others.
If you or a friend (inside or outside the groups) is feeling depressed, suicidal, need advice, or just need someone vent about a bad day the volunteers will be here to help. Whether it's problems work (like losing a job, being demoted, etc), school (like bullying or bad grades), home (issues with siblings, parent, etc), friendship or relationship (like a breakup or argument). They will be there to lend an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on and won't hesitate to give you advice you want or may need.
You will be completely anonymous. These volunteers vowed never to speak your name to anyone, not even amongst themselves. Unless you give them permission to pass your name along to their peers so they can better assist you, then you'll just be a John Doe. These volunteers took an oath by join the program that includes confidentiality. They won't speak about your problems or situation to anyone. Even if you happen to tell them a secret, you can bet that it will remain a secret! Unless you say otherwise you are anon and you have their word on that!
