DIY Phone Amplifier:
What you need:
Toilet paper roll
2 paper or plastic cups
Pencil
Scissors
Craft knife
Coloring utensils (markers, etc.)
How to:
1) Take your phone and trace around the bottom of the toilet paper roll
2) Cut out the slot (make initial cut with craft knife)
3) Trace end of the toilet paper roll on the lower side of each cup and cut out
4) Decorate your tube and cups and make them your own!!!
5) Slide your tube into the cups and you have a phone amplifier!!!
Why does this happen? The tube and cups turn a multi-directional speaker and help to direct the sound toward you, the listener!
Density Column:
What you need:
Vegetable Oil
Water
Food coloring
Dish soap
Honey
Corn syrup
Lego and/or other small objects (buttons, coins, paperclips, etc.)
How-to:
1) Carefully pour each of the liquids into the glass starting with the most dense and ending with the least dense
(Honey, corn syrup, dish soap, dyed water, vegetable oil)
2) Carefully drop each of the small items into the glass and see where they rest
Why does this happen? Liquids and solids have different densities based on their volumes ("size") and masses (how much "stuff" is in them". An object's density determines which liquid it settles in.
