We are super excited to be lauching our Comedy Wildlife Guided African Safari (yup, i know, catchy title) for October 2024. Not only guided by the legendary Kate Humble, but also our founders Paul Joynson-Hicks, a wildlife Photographer and Tom Sullam who takes pictures of things that dont move...zzzz I jest of course, he is an award-winning landscape photographer so ideally placed for our African adventure. Its a small group of 12 people maximum in three vehicles, so loads of space. Its an adventure.

Born from a passion for wildlife, and decades of experience living & working in East Africa, Comedy Wildlife began its life modestly in 2015 as a photographic competition. This picture was taken in the monkey forest in Ubud, Bali, a place where monkeys are king. Sometimes they give a show; sometimes they climb on visitors to look for fleas or steal a piece of biscuit. This one poses like a dandy for the photo.

I don't object to have fun, but I would object to have fun when you need to be serious. Because when the audience need you to be serious to your talk, then a funny picture will disrupt the thinking and they will be anxious.

A big part of making an effective presentation is understanding your audience. You are going to be the best judge of how a funny slide will be received, since you know your group better than any of us do.

If you do use a funny slide, do it for a reason - but that should be true of all your slides. Every slide should have a clear purpose and be designed to communicate something to your audience (preferably one thing per slide). Funny "thank you" slides are no different. Decide what the purpose of your "thank you" slide is, and whether this comic will communicate that purpose to your particular audience, and then you will have your answer.

Whether you should include funny pictures in your slides has already been adequately answered by others, but I wanted to give you some more practical considerations to keep in mind when making this decision.

Some people in comments have said to slightly crop the picture to remove the bit about tenure. DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT AUTHOR PERMISSION! The work is copyrighted and while there is a fair-use exemption for educational use of copyrighted material, the line about tenure is part of what makes this funny, especially for non-combinational theorists (although I doubt those will be present at your presentation). Without this punchline, the joke kinda falls flat because it is just another completely wrong definition of a scientific term, and there are plenty of those already.

This is a funny photo I ran across that I wanted to share with everyone. I didn't do this, but I think I got this photo from someone in weapons platoon. This is pretty much what a bunch of bored Marines will do, give a chicken 1 last smoke. By the way, he likes Newports.

Remember James Fridman, the master of photoshop who takes everything literally? We wrote about him back in March, then again in June, and now he strikes again with a new batch of photoshopped pictures.

For those who don't remember, this guy is just like the magic wish-granting funny photoshop genie - he'll give you EXACTLY what you asked for but in a twisted kind of way, deliberately delivering you the best photoshop fails ever. Just take a look at the photoshopped pics below to see what I'm talking about. And if you're too lazy to scroll down, I'll give you a hint - if you'd make a typo and ask for an Eyefell tower instead of Eiffel in the background of your picture, you'll be definitely getting a tower with eyes falling off of it.

you know the first time I heard someone say "reefer" divsion my mind went straight to ye ol mary jane... then I learned it was short for refrigerated... I wonder if shipments of mary jane in wash and co get shipped in reefer trucks... that would actually be really funny.

I had tried typing funny flatbed pics but I was hoping to find pages of pics unlike using the search tab and then clicking images. The pics weren't so much funny and real good ones seemed far and few between I was expecting something similar to pages of pics without having to use the images tab. I will will try those out.
