Hi, I'm Funing Li, a postdoctoral researcher at MIT EAPS working with Talia Tamarin-Brodsky. My current research focuses on mid-latitude temperature extremes and variability, as part of the MIT Climate Grand Challenge Project

I have a broad interest in extreme weather (e.g., severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, heatwaves, and precipitation), with a particular focus on their geographical and climatic drivers. I use and develop a hierarchy of climate model experiments (from aquaplanet to comprehensive earth climate modeling), combined with observations, theories, and statistics, to investigate how high-risk weather and climate phenomena form and evolve on Earth and Earth-like planets from the past to future climate, and how they impact the society.
