Emergency medical and evacuation expenses due to illnesses are covered, except for the following cases:
Disease / illness is pre-existing
Travelled to or from a country where the Philippine government or your travel destination’s regulatory authority has advised against any kind of travel. This exclusion does not apply if the insured has already commenced his/her trip prior to the issuance of such travel advisory.
You contract a disease that could have been prevented by a vaccination which you have failed to acquire and comply as directed, recommended or warned by the World Health Organization (WHO) or the equivalent authority of your travel destination before the commencement of your trip.
Trip cancellations, postponements, curtailments, and/or alterations due to COVID-19 are not covered since this is already a known event.
While restrictions are now being lifted, it pays to be on the safe side and prepare for unforeseen events that may happen during your trip.

DOES SMART TRAVELER COVER COVID-19?
Yes, Smart Traveller covers emergency medical and evacuation expenses due to Covid-19 if the customer is infected during his/her trip subject to the terms and conditions of the policy:
Illness is not pre-existing
Customer did not travel against the advise of the PH Government or the regulatory authority of the planned destination
Customer complied with the requirement, recommendation or warning of World Health Organization (WHO) or the equivalent authority of the travel destination to get vaccinated before the commencement of the trip
And if the customer conformed with the pertinent requirements of the IATF and/or DOH.
For trip cancellation / postponement and trip curtailment, however, we will not cover due to Covid-19 since this is already a known event.
WHAT IF I’M NOT VACCINATED AGAINST COVID19 YET, WILL I BE COVERED IF I GET INFECTED DURING MY TRIP?
If the vaccine against the disease was directed, recommended or warned to be acquired by the World Health Organization (WHO) or the equivalent authority of your travel destination before your trip, you will not be covered for Medical and Evacuation Expenses.
WHAT ARE THE EXCLUDED ZONES?
For Domestic, excluded areas are Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, South Cotabato, North Cotabato, Maguindanao, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, and Sulu Archipelago (including Basilan Province).
For International, excluded areas are: Crimea and Sebastopol, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela which are identified sanctioned countries based on United Nations resolutions, or trade or economic sanction, laws or regulations of the European Union, United Kingdom or United States of America.
AXA Philippines will also not cover claims for trips to countries/zones where the Philippine government or the equivalent regulatory authority of your destination has advised against travel.
