How to use

Start menu

When you launch the application, the "Start" tab will be selected.

Tap the "View Entire Map" button at the top of the screen to see a map of the entire Mt.


Tap each of the four routes to see the details.

Entire Map

A map of Mt. Fuji is displayed, with the four routes divided by color. The icon for each point and the course time are also displayed.


When you are around Mt. Fuji, press the current location button in the upper right corner to move to your current location.


Press the "Start Hiking" button at the bottom of the screen to select the appropriate route based on your current location and start hiking.


Tap the icon to see the details of each point.

Preview the route

When you select one of the routes in the "Start" tab, a preview of the route will be displayed.

Click the "Directions" button in the upper right corner, and the red icon will move along the route.


You can also click on the "Routes" button to view other routes.


At first, the icons are not displayed, but as you zoom in on the map, the icons for each place will appear.


Click the "Start Hiking" button to set the current route as the planned route and start hiking.

Screen during hiking

When you start hiking, you will be taken to the hiking screen.


In the upper right corner of the screen is the elevation graph, in the upper left is the hiking status, and below that is the estimated time of arrival for the next point you will pass.


Your current location is indicated by a blue arrow. A black line will appear in the direction you are facing, so you can use it to check the direction you are facing.


Press the "Current Location" button on the right to move the map to your current location.


Press the "S" button to move the map to the starting point of the planned route.

Heading Up Mode

Normally, the map is displayed so that north is up.


Tap the compass icon in the upper left corner to switch to the heading-up mode, where the direction you are facing is up.

Calorie display

The calories you have consumed are displayed in the upper left corner. Tapping on the underlined "kcal" part will take you to a screen where you can select your weight and your luggage.


By entering these numbers, you will be able to see your calories while hiking. Please note that you will not be able to see the calories after hiking.

Elevation Graph

Tap the elevation graph in the upper right corner to go to the screen to view the details.


The planned route is shown in green, the actual route in red, and the current location in blue dots.


At the bottom of the screen, you can check the walking time, distance traveled, and elevation difference between ascending and descending routes.

Route details

Tap the “More" button below the elevation graph, at the next expected arrival time, to view the route details.


The expected arrival time will be displayed based on the past arrival and departure times for each point and your current pace.


Your current location will be indicated by a blue circle.


If you are in a different location, you can adjust your current location by tapping the line between the circle and the circle icon.


You can also change the location of the estimated arrival time displayed on the map screen by tapping the circle icon.

Settings Menu

Tap the white button in the upper right corner to display the settings screen. The contents of each menu are as follows.

  • Map

    • You can switch between maps. All maps except the default topographic map are downloaded from the Internet, so they cannot be used in an offline environment.

  • About Symbols on Map

    • You can check the explanation of the symbols displayed on the app's map.

  • Change Route

    • You can change the current planned route. If you are hiking an irregular route, such as the Yoshida route and descending from Suzashiri, you can change the route in the middle of your climb.

  • Share Location

    • You can send the latitude and longitude information of your current location via e-mail or message application.

  • Hut list

    • View a list of all mountain lodges. This is the same as the lodge list on the home screen.

  • Links

    • You can check a collection of links related to Mt. This is the same as the links list on the home screen.

  • Preferences

    • Displays the app's settings screen.

Online and Offline Mode

Press the Online button on the right side of the screen to switch between online and offline modes.

In online mode, if you are connected to the Internet, you will be able to view maps outside the range of the preloaded maps.

In return, the display of the map will be slower and the amount of internet traffic will increase when the internet connection is poor.


In offline mode, you will not be able to view any maps other than the preloaded maps of Mt. Fuji.

Adding photos and notes

Press the camera button on the bottom right or the "Write Notes" button to take a photo or leave a memo.

The information you leave will remain in your "History" so that you can check it in the app after hiking.


You can also check your "History" in the bottom left corner while hiking.

Latitude and longitude of your current location

In the lower left corner of the map, you can see the latitude and longitude.


Tap this area to display the latitude and longitude of your current location.

Pausing and Quitting the Hike

Tap the orange button at the bottom of the screen to pause hiking.

This can be used when taking a long break or staying overnight.

After pausing, tap the green button to resume hiking. Tap the red button to quit hiking.

Voice guidance

The Mt. Fuji app has a range of features to support your hiking with voice.


Speech function

This is a function that speaks the current time and elevation after a certain amount of time has passed.

Since Mt. Fuji is a straight uphill climb, you can see how far you have walked without looking at a map, just by knowing the elevation periodically.


Route deviation warning

When you select a planned route and start hiking, this function warns you by sound, vibration, and notification if you deviate from the route and take a different route.

If you deviate from the route, you will be notified by voice periodically thereafter that you are off the route.

When you are back on the original route, you will be notified by voice to that effect.


* How to stop the warning

To stop the warning message, open the Fuji app and check the map.

Fuji app to stop the warning message. Once you see the map, you will be able to return to the original route and the warning message will stop until you go off again.


If you want to change the route to another one from the middle of the route, please select "Change route" from the setting menu and set it.

Branch Notification

This function alerts you with an audio message before a fork in the road where you are likely to make a mistake.

Since some people make mistakes at the fork between the Yoshida route and the Suwari route, especially when descending the mountain, the system will now notify you before the fork.

Currently, there is only one location, but we plan to add more locations if necessary, based on the situation of other people who get lost.

Hut list

Tap the "Hut" tab at the bottom of the app screen to see a list of huts (mountain lodges).

The huts on each route will be displayed in order of elevation, starting with the lowest.


Tap the tab to see the details of each lodge. Please refer to this information when making a reservation by phone or web.

Hiking History

Tap the History tab to view the history of your past hikes.

Tap each item to see the details of the history.

Tap the "With GPS log" area on the screen to see the map and trajectory.

Tap the green icon at the bottom right of the photo to see the location where the photo was taken.

Climbing Certification

Tap the "Get climbing certificate" button to view the image of your climbing certificate.

The content of the message will change depending on whether you have climbed to the summit of Kenga-mine, the summit of each route (Ohachi section), or not.

When you tap a picture, the color of the text changes between black and white.

You can also tap the "Replace Photo" button to switch to any photo or map image.

Tap the "Share" button to share the proof of your climb via SNS or messaging application.

Tap the "Save Image" button to save the certificate to the "Photos" application.

Saving to YamaReco

If you press the "Save to YamaReco" button at the bottom of the history screen, you can save your hiking record to the dedicated hiking community site "YamaReco".

Please note that the procedure for publication must be operated from the YamaReco website or the YamaReco application.

Also, if you have not logged in, please log in from the preferences page.

Useful Information

This is a collection of useful mountain information for climbing Mt. Fuji.

Tap each item to go to the respective page. Some of the contents can be used offline.


Sign in to YamaReco

To view the recent records of Mt. Fuji, you need to log in to YamaReco. Please sign in when the signin screen appears when you tap the button.

When you click the "Sign-in to YamaReco" button, the login screen will be displayed, please enter your user name and password to login.

After logging in, the permission screen for the Fujiyama application to access the YamaReco will be displayed. (Only the first time)


If you are not a registered user of YamaReco, please register as a user from the "Register for free" button and then sign in.

If you are not registered with YamaReco, please register as a user by clicking the "Register for free" button and then sign in. Please note that you cannot use Japanese for your user name. Please enter your username using single-byte alphanumeric characters.

Menu screen

When you start the application, tap the three-line icon in the upper right corner to open the menu screen.

Tap "Preferences" to display the app's settings screen.

Tap "How to Use" will display this site.

If you find a problem with the app, please report it in the "Feedback" section, or contact the app operator in the "Contact Us" section.

In the "Mountain Insurance" section, you can subscribe to "Team Safety Mountaineering" mountain insurance that covers Mt. Fuji.To join, you need to register as a user of YamaReco.

App Preferences

Select "Preferences" from the menu to display the app preferences screen.

  • Camera button

    • You can choose how to behave when you press the camera button displayed in the lower right corner while climbing.

    • Save as is: Skip the memo input screen and save the photo.

    • Add notes: Displays a screen to leave a note along with the photo.

  • GPS accuracy

    • You can set the interval for saving the GPS log. Normally, leave it at "Normal".

  • Speech function

    • This is a function that informs you of your current status via the voice of your smartphone while you are hiking. Information on time and elevation will be periodically provided.

    • Select "None" if you do not need this function.

  • Off-route alert

    • This is a function that notifies you by voice, vibration, and notification when you deviate from your planned route.

    • Normally, it is recommended to turn this function on.

  • Guide function

    • This function displays the estimated time of the next stopover while hiking a mountain. If you do not need this function, please turn it off.

  • Sign-in/out

    • This is the function to sign in to YamaReco. When you sign in, you can keep a record of your Mt. Fuji climb on your mountain recorder, or view the Mt. Fuji records of other people registered on your mountain recorder.

    • If you fail to sign in, please log out by pressing the "Force Sign-out" button, and then try to sign in again.

  • Delete cache

    • Maps outside of the Mt. Fuji area are saved as a cache so that they can be viewed offline once they are displayed. In addition, data is temporarily stored for other processing.

    • If you want to delete this information to save space on your smartphone, tap each item to delete it. Even if you delete the information, your hiking history and other data will remain intact and will not affect normal operations.

  • App Version

    • You can check the version of the app you are currently using.
