Dr Finley is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida, College of Medicine. She is a founding faculty member and serves as the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program for the UCF/HCA Florida (Fort Walton-Destin).
She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Magnolia Regional Hospital, Corinth, Mississippi where she also served as Chief Resident, Core Faculty, and Chair of the Clinical Competency Committee. She was the founding program director at Henry County Medical Center and worked with state and federal programs to build focus to the importance of rural primary care training.
Dr. Finley’s academic interest is focused on education and hospital medicine. Her goal as an educator is to empower learners, foster a positive exciting learning environment, and infuse a desire for obtaining/receiving/implementing feedback. She aims to balance this approach with a focus on learner’s well-being and career goals.
As Program Director, Dr. Finley is primarily responsible for oversight and administration of the program. She will provide clinical supervision, oversee the didactic curriculum, conduct administration, and complete scholarly activities
April Pattengale is our Program Administrator. Having relocated from the Midwest to be part of this new program,
April brings a decade of GME experience to the UCF/HCA Florida Fort-Walton Beach-Destin Internal Medicine
Residency program. Working alongside of program leadership, she manages the day to day activities of the residency program.
Inpatient Medicine
Robert A Obeid, MD is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Central Florida, College of Medicine. He serves as a core faculty member for the Internal Medicine Residency Program for the UCF/HCA Florida (Fort Walton-Destin).
He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona. Following residency, he served as an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, where he focused on quality improvement projects to decrease hospital mortality and improve patient outcomes in sepsis. In 2023, he served as the CHI (Catholic Health Initiatives) Texas Division Sepsis Chair.
Dr. Obeid’s academic interest is focused on hospital-based medicine. As an educator, his goal is to establish a comfortable learning environment that promotes scholarly discussions and sparks excitement around the practice of medicine.
As core faculty, Dr. Obeid is primarily responsible for clinical supervision, scholarly activity, and didactic training.
Outpatient Medicine
Vergil Brown III, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with White-Wilson Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Dr. Brown specializes in disease prevention, disease management, wellness care, adult primary care, chronic care and annual wellness exams.
Dr. Brown received his medical doctor degree and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch. After graduating, he relocated from Texas to North Carolina where he completed his residency at the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Brown is passionate about medicine and helping people, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
