Seed Harvesting
Seed Harvesting
Seed harvesting will be different based on each individual plant, but there are some commonalities among most plants.
After a plant grows flowers, the flowers will slowly turn into a seed pod. They will be ready to harvest based on some of these factors:
the plant gets much taller and thinner
the leaves get longer and narrow
the seed pods darken or turn brown
Seed pods can be harvested by simply plucking them off, or by tearing an entire branch off the main stem. Pods are then crushed by grinding with your fingers, or gently with a wooden implement in a bowl. Do not use too much force, such as with a mortar and pestle, as it may destroy the seeds.
