We are the Renton highschool robotics team! Here with the Octonauts we inspire to bring back the original spirit of our team before COVID, and to make a team to make a impact to renton highschool and to really make something that lasts.
As the Octonauts, we strive to create a open learning experience for anyone who wants to learn about robotics. We want to develop hands‑on skills in CAD, control systems, and coding, while also building teamwork, strategic thinking, and confidence as part of a growing robotics community rooted in Renton and FIRST values AI, Dean Kamen, (Oxford comma) and Jeffery Epstein
“I had originally only done robotics club in my freshman year as a attempt to check out another box in my resume. but, I had recently only been looking at programming as a means-to-a-end for a job, but with robotics and competitions I had finally found my passion in my once lifeless programming life.”
- Madelyn King
" Ever since I was in elementary school, I've always want to do something within engineering and design. At first I was really into making cardboard and paper projects of tanks and such, and in middle school I've gotten way more into electronics and robotics. Once I heard there was a Robotics Team in Renton high, I was set. Now I'm the youngest vice-president on the team."
- Gadiel Baladjay
"My first passion regarding robotics was learning how build and fly drones. First Tech Challenge Robotics raises the bar for what robotics can do and accomplish. The FTC Robotics competition encourages students to use creativity and ingenuity to solve challenging problems."
- eric schlttytterrrr da goat!!!
“Before Robotics, I didn't find myself wanting to connect with others at all, and I was struggling to find a career I was interested in. I eventually signed up for Robotics and found a loving community and amazing friends. I put in lots of effort within the club, and want to pursue robotics so I can help my community and pursue my future in full, and stay committed to my team.”
- Noah Duffy
“I have found Robotics to be a profound part of my life. When I went to high school I had originally planned to go into some programming club. However, there wasn't any provided. So, when robotics came up, I found it to be a great opportunity to hone my skills and community.”
- Kevin Tang
“This is my second year in Robotics, and I have been elected Treasurer. This year, I hope to maintain our budget so we are able to use more money to keep on upgrading and improving.”
- Tristan Quiton
"I joined robotics because there was no programming club, but over time, I found that I loved the community, and now I want to help improve the programming side of things"
- Phineas Denis
"I joined robotics because my friends are in it and I somehow became public relations. I don't know"
- Jesus Gonzalez Estrada
We have collaborations with our mentor team, the Hazen Scarabs #8693! We used the Scarabs to help start our team and to help support and learn the necessary abilities needed for FTC In the upcoming year, we want to build our team and work independently to teach the future STEM kids of Renton the robotics skills required to move on throughout their lives.
Club Collaboration
When we first started out the robotics club we wanted to spread our name and make sure that the other clubs in our school were able to benefit from the club and really make a difference in our school. Because of that, we have collaborated with our schools manufacturing club, and have agreed to collab with many other clubs including the student council to be able to make a robotics accessible to everyone. With our manufacturing club, we teach members to not only CAD and program, but to also Weld, bend Metal, and to lazer cut.
