Az-Tech Robotics was founded in 2023 and is a student-led engineering team at Copper Canyon High School. Our members collaborate to design, build, and program competition robots while developing leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Students take on leadership roles across mechanical design, programming, outreach, and team operations.
Our mission is to inspire students to pursue STEM through hands-on robotics and community engagement while practicing the FIRST core values of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition.
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an international robotics competition for students in grades 7–12. Each season, teams design, build, and program a robot to compete in a new engineering challenge released by FIRST.
Teams work together throughout the season to develop a robot capable of completing game tasks during matches while also documenting their engineering process and presenting their work to judges.
FTC is more than just building a robot. Students gain experience in:
engineering and mechanical design
programming and electronics
computer-aided design (CAD)
teamwork and project management
public speaking and presentations
Competitions bring teams together to compete in matches, collaborate with alliance partners, and share their engineering journey with judges and other teams.
Through FIRST Tech Challenge, students develop technical skills, confidence, and leadership while becoming part of a global robotics community dedicated to innovation and learning.

Az-Tech Robotics was founded at Copper Canyon High School in the 2023-2024 CENTERSTAGE season to give students the opportunity to explore engineering, technology, and teamwork through the FIRST Tech Challenge.
What began as a small group of students interested in robotics has grown into a year-round engineering program where students design, build, and program competition robots while also engaging in STEM outreach throughout the community.
Each season, the team takes on a new challenge released by FIRST, requiring students to design a completely new robot from the ground up. Through this process, students develop skills in mechanical design, programming, problem solving, and collaboration.
Today, Az-Tech Robotics continues to grow with the support of dedicated coaches, mentors, and community partners. The team is committed to creating opportunities for students to learn, innovate, and share their passion for STEM with others.
Az-Tech Robotics values collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning. Students work together to solve engineering challenges, support one another, and share their passion for robotics with the community.
