Outreach
What is Outreach?
Outreach is a way of spreading STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics), and is promoted by FIRST. We get kids of all ages excited about STEM and in particular FIRST. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, and is a nonprofit organization that organizes robotics competitions. In Outreach, we show off our robot and attract kids and parents to learn about FLL and FTC.
Business and Strategic Plan
As part of our outreach, we plan on raising awareness about FIRST and about STEAM throughout this year's FTC season. Here are some events that we are planning on hosting/attending in the coming months.
Saratoga Halloween Festival
Saratoga City Council is holding "Witchy Walk-A-Bout & Trick-or-Treating" event in downtown Saratoga on October 28. The details of the event can be found here https://patch.com/california/saratoga/calendar/event/20171028/232267/witchy-walk-a-bout-trick-or-treating-saratoga.
There will be a lot of kids and a lot of opportunity to inspire the young generation about STEAM. We will set up a table where we will showcase our robot and talk to kids about FIRST.

FLL Competition
Redwood Middle School
We plan to introduce FIRST and Robotics at our school to inspire and excite other kids in robotics and STEAM. We plan to talk to the principle and our Griffin News Network team (our school's news network) and set up a booth during lunch time where we take our robot and a few soft tiles to showcase the robot.
Saratoga Library
We are also planning to showcase our robot in our local library, the Saratoga Library. We will ask the library manager to see if we can present our robot, FTC, FIRST, and STEAM to the community and inspire kids to do FIRST.
Hongyun Art
Hongyun art is an art school in cupertino, that is very active in promoting views of kids doing any STEAM activity. One person on the team knows the manager very well, and can arrange an outreach session with the entire art school.
