If you're interested in enrolling as a student for a higher degree by research (PhD, or Masters by Research) and would like to discuss possible supervision, feel free to contact me by email.
As a minimum you should indicate:
What your own research interests are, and a brief description of what you'd like to work on specifically. (This can be relatively high-level, but should be a couple of sentences long, at least. Just stating something like "I'm interested in search" is not enough to start a sensible discussion.)
Some awareness of what my research interests are. For example, look at my research page, check my list of publications, and read a few of my papers to see if any seem related to what you're proposing.
If there is some alignment between these two items, then I'm very happy to hear from you!
However, you are unlikely to get a response if one or more of the following hold:
you send a generic email and haven't taken the time to think about how our research interests might be related,
there is a clear mismatch in research interests,
you send content that was created using genAI.
