I hiked up to the Kanarra Falls in Kanarraville, Utah yesterday morning. It was 11f at the parking lot when I started the hike and the temperatures were even lower than that in the main canyon. The creek was frozen over in several places and I had to tread carefully with my microspikes. The Upper Fall was gorgeous with the ice and snow. Great experience.

Yeah,that new ladder is so disappointing. I don't even bother to photograph the lower fall anymore due to that monstrosity. One might be able to get some good shots of the lower fall by keeping the ladder out of the frame (using an UWA lens and a vertical comp. However, the Upper Fall is still gorgeous and that is what I head to.

i agree that the aluminum ladder lacks character of the old wooden one. -as a result, i crossed off kanarra falls on my list. if i'm gonna do that hike, it's gotta be a ladder that fits the image. the aluminum ladder reminds me of shopping at home depot!

Both those shots are cool. I just googled searched for an image of the falls and the metal staircase, that is quite disappointing they ruined such a beautiful set of falls with that. It's still strange seeing the upper falls without the slippery dangerous make shift tree ladder. That was one of my favorite hikes on my last Utah trip. Hi! Personally, I would put them in thawed. You can thaw the ribs overnight in the fridge. If you do want to try putting them in frozen, I would add an extra hour to cook time.
